In the margins, unviewable territory, sprawled the lumped and gelatinous bags of trash. They make this photo work if only because they were cropped out.
Taken: 04/09/2010 in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn, NY. The silent tree stood proudly, unsniffling, unsniffing, towering over the garbage that had been tossed at its feet like so many ill-conceived offerings.
