Taken: 09/11/2010 on the Manhattan Bridge between Brooklyn and Manhattan, NY at 0637. While riding to the race I noticed the sunrise and immediately realized that not stopping would be a mistake. The shot above is composed of 3 HDR images, themselves composed of 3 images each, compiled into a single panorama. The railing of the bridge is the only perch I had for the camera where the view wasn't obscured by fence. I left the railing showing at the top and the bottom because it kind of looks like an eyelid.

Tranquil New York
On the morning of September 11, I went to photograph a bike race. While the race shots were not very good or interesting, I did end up with two really lovely HDR photos on the day. One is a gorgeous sunrise over Williamsburg, seen from the Manhattan Bridge. The other is this lovely shot over the lake in Central Park.
The foreground--the plants on the left and right close to the bottom--was very dark compared to the background--the middle of the shot with the buildings and the sky. The final photo was composed of three shots over a 7 stop range.

Jump
When once was I a kid, I could if i couldn't and jumped if I shouldn't.
Balloons and feisty feet combined to fret my parents from their seat.
'Twas, 'twas not too long ago, I remember I was young and spry,
But wakefulness has vacated my old bones and they and my good humour have whittled'ch other dry.

Starling on H
Proud To Be An American!
I'm keepin' an Eye on things from up here.
These buds need a shepherd and I am that pig!
My bird brain has 'fused some metaphors.

We all live and die, but not all of us are starlings.

Pita Gull
Do you ever feel that life is getting away from you? This gull certainly did. Well it wasn't life, but it was a big chunk of pita. The pita kept getting away and the gull chased after it--lunging, lurching and hopping.
While the poetry of a bird chasing a Middle Eastern flatbread on a frozen lake completely escapes me, the efforts still need to be lauded.

Prospect Park Panorama
The lake was frozen and all the cool birds wanted to hang out on the ice. They all had their own little gatherings and meetings. Some would squabble, while others sat peacefully and chilled.
